Does this make sense, someone said you have to believe in God and his son Jesus christ but don't believe?

in religions because its man made but only believe in God through the bible and being a Christan. i'm confuse i thought he said religions are man made but yet he want people to believe in god and convert to Christianity. is Christianity is a religion
